While I have been interested in photography for most of my life, it has only been a serious pursuit for the last 10-15 years. I am drawn to photography that captures or evokes an emotional response - pictures that tell a piece of a story, or give a window into another person's life. I am also fascinated by the abstract and intricately colorful art found in acrylic paint pouring. In both of these mediums, I find that art is about connection with each other, connection with the world around us and connection with our creator. This means that my subject matter varies widely, based on what moves me. I hope as you explore my gallery that some of it moves you as well.
I have many artistic interests, from theatre, to ballroom dancing and choreography, to poetry and writing. My passion has always been to create projects that combine my love of movement, language, color, drama and faith into various artistic mediums; to use my art to convey life-giving, life-affirming messages; and in capturing a particular moment or story, help the viewer or reader see the world a bit differently.
Do I live in the Black Mountain area of North Carolina? No. I hail from the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The name of my art gallery actually derives from my name. I am a proud of my Norwegian heritage and Solberg means "Sun Mountain" (hence the logo image), and Black is my married name. I wanted to honor both my heritage and my family in creating this art business.
My Studio. I am blessed with a multi-purpose home office which allows me to work from home, edit my photos, set up my paint studio a few times per month, teach private ballroom dance lessons when it is cleared out, and do endless amounts of laundry that come with two adventurous boys.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
